Many people have expressed an interest in presenting for E.L. Achieve. Here are the steps to follow to join our team.
Letter of Interest
Our mission is to improve English learner achievement by building the knowledge and skills of educators and school leaders. If you share that passion, that is the first step. Being a presenter for E.L. Achieve requires a significant investment of time and intellectual energy.
We employ a capacity-building model that requires our presenters to have a deep knowledge of language learning, effective pedagogy for linguistically and culturally diverse students, and a well-articulated vision of instruction and professional development.
Start the process by sending us a letter that describes your professional development experience as well your knowledge of the work and mission of E.L. Achieve. Address your letter to:

Becoming a Presenter
If we agree that this is potentially a good match, you will proceed with the formal induction process. The process for becoming a Presenter includes the following steps:
- Attend a Constructing Meaning or Systematic ELD Institute. For a list of institutes, check the Constructing Meaning Events and/or Systematic ELD Events webpages. Email Libby Flores at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to register.
- Submit an application packet to one of our District Support Leads, Karina Bruzzese (Oregon) or Marta Serna (all other states) that includes:
- DVD of a segment from a recently presented institute or follow-up session for Constructing Meaning or Systematic ELD, preferably to a group of 25 or more participants. The video must be complete, including not only the formal presentation, but also the interaction between the presenter and the participants.
- Complete resume outlining specific presentation skills and the details of staff development presentations you have provided in the past three years. Please include the title, audience, date, and content and samples of participant evaluations.
- List at least 3-5 professional references, including complete contact information.
- Successfully complete certification for Constructing Meaning and/or Systematic ELD. Successfully complete presenter certification for Constructing Meaning and/or Systematic ELD by attending a summer Leadership Seminar and completing certification requirements. For dates, locations and application forms go to the Constructing Meaning Events and/or Systematic ELD Events webpages. During your certification process, you will be required to demonstrate both content knowledge and proficient presentation skills.
- Submit a formal recommendation from one of our lead Associates who has personally observed you present portions of an institute to educators or school leaders.
- Once you have been accepted into the Presenter Development Program, you will continue to improve your level of content expertise that is essential for the successful presentation of our Institutes. Activities in the Presenter Development Program include shadowing one of our Lead Associates, co-presenting opportunities, and the development of a personal learning plan that will include reading our professional publications as well as related materials and providing written summaries.
